Hi everyone,
I am considering adding an LHY Audio FMC to my network and would like to ask for some advice regarding SFP transceivers.
My planned setup would be:
Router / network switch
→ LHY Audio FMC
→ optical fiber
→ XACT N1 switch
→ audio server / streamer
The manufacturer of the XACT N1 has recommended the Finisar / Coherent FTLX1475D3BTL for the N1. As far as I understand, this is a 10G SFP+ 1310 nm singlemode LR transceiver.
Since the LHY Audio FMC is specified as a 10/100/1000 Mbps device, I am wondering whether this specific 10G SFP+ transceiver can be used reliably with the LHY FMC, or whether a native 1G SFP module would be the better and safer choice.
My goal is not only basic compatibility, but the best possible result regarding sound quality, stability, low noise, low heat and clean electrical behavior.
A few specific questions:
Has anyone tested the Finisar / Coherent FTLX1475D3BTL with the LHY Audio FMC?
Would you recommend using a 10G SFP+ module in this application, or would you rather use a native 1G 1000BASE-LX SFP?
For the LHY FMC, is 1000BASE-LX, 1310 nm, singlemode, LC duplex generally preferable to 1000BASE-SX, 850 nm, multimode?
Are there any specific SFP brands or models that have worked especially well with the LHY FMC?
Are there any modules that should be avoided because of heat, higher power consumption, instability or poorer sound quality?
Would you recommend using two identical SFP transceivers at both ends of the optical link?
I have seen Finisar / Coherent, Cisco, 10Gtek, FS.com and BlueOptics mentioned in different contexts, but I would be interested in real user experience specifically with the LHY Audio FMC.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
